Our Schedule of Children's Classes

We currently offer several weekly classes held in Crouch End. These informal, friendly classes are taught by either our Rabbi, Sandra Kviat, or Naomi Kramer, an experienced Cheder teacher.
Our kids’ classes are called ‘Chaverim’ which means ‘friends’ and reflects our aims to make the children feel comfortable and secure with their Jewish identity and make local Jewish friends.

At our classes the children are taught in small groups and no previous Hebrew knowledge is necessary. The younger children focus mainly on Jewish Studies (learning about Shabbat, the festivals, stories from the bible etc.) as well as learning some Hebrew letters and words. The older children’s classes also include topical discussions relating to Jewish values and ethics.

Bar/Batmitzvah preparation
We offer a 2 year B'nei Mitzvah programme which involves attending our Jewish Studies classes for 2 years as well as Hebrew preparation closer to the date of the actual ceremony. We also organise an outing/event for the B’nei Mitzvah children at least once a term and expect them to attend Chavurah services and take part in our community events. Children must be members of the Chavurah.

We can help organise a tutor for the Hebrew preparation. We recommend children begin this approximately 9 months before the date of their ceremony, so parents should contact us at least 12 months before the planned date to allow time to make the necessary arrangements.
